vmesnik uporabovnega programa je programska oprema, ki zagotavlja, da so računalniške funkcije na voljo aplikacijskemu programu. Definira funkcije, ki jih aplikacijski program potrebuje za izvajanje nalog in definira kako aplikacijska programska oprema kliče strežbo aplikacijskega sloja. Za različne aplikacije so standardizirani vmesniki API, tako za telefonijo TAPI in TSAPI, za elektronsko sporočanje MAPI, za aplikacije v omrežju ISDN vmesnik CAPI in za telefonske aplikacije v jeziku JAVA JTAPI.

Na konferenci MindTrek, ki je potekala med 1. in 3. oktobrom v Tampere, na Finskem, smo predstavili prispevek “WEB on TV: Cross-National User Study for Designing Better User Experience”

In this paper we present the user studies conducted as a part of an international project EU SEE TV-WEB, funded by the European Union. The project combines the traditional broadcast world with the dynamic web environment while focusing on the aspects of usability and user experience in order to provide the best possible experience for the elderly people, economically weak people and people living in rural areas who do not usually use personal computers and who have no Internet connection. The results of the user studies about the media literacy, media use and the target users’ interest about TV-WEB services, conducted as a part of the project in two different European countries i.e. Austria and Montenegro, are also presented. Additionally, we present the user-centered design process for the service that was conducted as a part of the user study in Slovenia.

Arduino is an open hardware and software concept designed around Atmel AVR microcontrollers, C-like programming language, intuitive IDE including editor/compiler and lots of pre-made examples to make
development easier. The interface to the programming computer is provided through USB port and built-in
Arduino bootloader. The hardware layout exposes numerous I/O, A/D and PWM ports to be connected to
external communication modules or shields. This paper presents the practical evaluation of telematic
systems during laboratory practices at our faculty, describing numerous possibilities to evolve this concept further in the direction of ubiquitous IoT.

We present the RaspberryPi embedded computer and its applications as the multimedia learning platform for the students. Four different practical use cases are presented; from a simple Linux computer to a powerful multimedia centre with Ambilight capabilities. The RPi platform also incorporates several general purpose input/output interfaces, such as SPI, serial and I²C.
Thus it can be used in a smarthouse environment as an embedded controller and signal processor. The last case study shows some of this potential where RPie is used as a general purpose LED controller, visualizing different ambient parameters, such as temperature or energy consumption. Finally we discuss the possibilities of the RPi platform in the learning environment.

Modeliranje in simulacija z uporabo okolja E-CHO

In the paper the most important properties and functionalities of E-CHO program are first presented. This e-learning platform was developed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. The education and research environment where different scientific areas are studied is an ideal environment which stimulates a constant improvement of this teaching possibility from technological as well as from pedagogical view point. In the paper this is illustrated for the area of modelling and simulation, where remote experimentation (as more or less demanding projects) can extend teaching efficacy of the lectures or can be organized as motivation projects at different levels of the study. At the end of the paper the goals for the future work are indicated.

Low Cost Video on Demand Platform Based on Open Source Software

Video on demand servers are complex, expensive and inappropriate to be used in low-budget environments. This work proposes an approach to use an open source web server and an open source content management system as a video on demand platform for public web purposes. Pseudo-streaming over the hyper text transfer protocol is introduced with the supporting web server features. A practical implementation of the solution is provided  with the extensions made to Wordpress content management system.

User behavior analysis based on Identity management systems’ log data

Identity Management Systems (IdM systems) are repositories where users’ security credentials are kept and managed. One of many tasks performed by IdM system is an authentication and authorization of users while they are using applications. In case where IdM systems are organized as central repository, which means that authentications and authorizations for different applications are carried out on one central IdM system. This case is common for enterprises with more than 50 employees where various aspects of users’ behavior can be analyzed. By applying machine learning method SVM (Support Vector Machines) on IdM system log data with application on searching employees that are acting enthusiastically within working day, we showed that analysis of IdM systems log data can be successfully applied for analyzing employees behavior within an enterprise.

A Tool for Development and Evaluation of Accessible Web 2.0 Applications

Many Web applications are not designed in a way which would allow persons with disabilities and older adults to fully benefit from modern Web 2.0 services. Implementation of Web accessibility has traditionally been plagued by inefficient tools and tedious evaluation procedures. The I2Web project is developing software frameworks that will support Web developers better during the implementation phase and is introducing new methods for accessibility validation based on simulation of user preferences and device models.

Računalništvo v oblaku v telekomunikacijah in primeri uporabe

Računalništvo v oblaku temelji na konceptu, ki je v telekomunikacijah že dolgo poznan kot abstrakcija infrastrukture, platforme in storitev. Pomembna razloga za njegov razmah sta vedno večja razširjenost širokopasovnih povezav ter napredek na področju virtualizacije strojne opreme, ki danes omogoča popolno avtomatizacijo in optimizacijo delovanja velikih strežniških farm.
Kljub številnim ponudnikom virtualizacijske programske opreme, se to področje ne bi tako razmahnilo brez prisotnosti velikih ponudnikov infrastrukture in storitev v oblaku, ki so z agresivnim oglaševanjem in inoviranjem na področju poslovnih modelov ozavestili kupce in znižali vstopno bariero za uporabnike in razvijalce.
